Houghton Falls-Bayview-Wisconsin

We hiked Houghton Falls July 11th, 2025.

Another hot sunny hike and we’re here for it!

Now I’m not real sure where Houghton Falls is actually located. We tried asking several other hikers and they seemed just as confused. After some internet searching, I think the falls are supposed to be here. One thing for sure was that the falls were all dried up!

The gorge was beautiful! Photos cannot capture the depth, dampness, or dazzling colors of the moss clinging to the rocks.

Echo Dells

We made it to Lake Superior and looped back to our starting point.

Our hiking adventure was 1.4 miles.

Siskiwit River Falls-Cornucopia-Wisconsin

We hiked Siskiwit River Falls July 11th, 2025.

Fate brought us to this place. A small brown sign stating “Siskiwit River Falls” is all it took to detour us from the highway. As we were getting our hiking gear on, my cousin asked the family that had parked next to us what the hike was like. They told us to kick off our hiking boots, grab our flip-flops and hike in the river. Say less…

We hiked a very short trail in our flip-flops towards the river. As soon as we reached the river, we flipped our flip-flops off and hiked the river. The water was soooo cold at first, but it felt so good!

We hiked up two of the falls…

…and down two of the falls.

I felt like a little kid again playing in the water.

Our hike was about ½ mile.

Lost Creek Falls-Cornucopia-Wisconsin

We hiked Lost Creek Falls July 11st, 2025.

It was a beautiful morning for a hike through the woods. The sun was shining, and the birds were singing.

Bayfield County Parks has done a wonderful job preserving the soil surrounding the trail.

We had the falls all to ourselves. It felt like a magical fairytale. *Cue enchanting fairy music now.

Nothing beats jumping rocks down the waterway. We made our way down the creek until there were no more rocks to jump. We looped back towards the falls.

We followed the same trail out.

Our hiking adventure was 2.7 miles.

Amnicon Falls State Park-South Range-Wisconsin

We hiked Amnicon Falls State Park July 10th, 2025.

It was a hot and steamy morning as our hiking adventure began along the Amnicon River. The sound of the river cascading down the rocks created a calming atmosphere.

We hiked a bit at this park. However, most of the time our eyes were on the river!

Amnicon Falls State Park has two historic covered bridges. The first covered bridge we approached was near Upper Falls.

They have an old stone staircase that offers a wonderful view of the Upper Falls.

Lower Falls, The Douglas Fault and the second covered bridge awaited us next. The view did not disappoint.

The layered rocks look so cool.

We not only crossed the historic covered bridge, we also went under the bridge!

Another beautiful stone staircase and view of Upper Falls.

We continued along the trail towards our third and final waterfall.

Snake Pit Falls

We briefly hiked away from the river taking in all the colorful wildflowers.

A few more views of the Amnicon River before we complete our hike.

Our hiking adventure was 1 mile.

Cascade Falls-Osceola-Wisconsin

We hiked one of the Rivertown Trails at Cascade Falls on July 10th, 2025.

Our adventure began at the top of a tall wooden staircase. We could hear Cascade Falls from above.

Cascade Falls

We crossed Osceola Creek to begin our hike.

The beavers seemed to have been busy this year. Thankfully, their dam did not disrupt the flow of the creek into the St. Croix River.

With summer being in full swing, the leaves seemed to radiate green! Even the birds sang a happy tune.

We did divert to the main road to snap a photo of the “Welcome to Wisconsin” sign.

We looped back to Cascade Falls.

Our hiking adventure was 2 miles.

Pattison State Park-Superior-Wisconsin

We hiked Pattison State Park on October 18th, 2024.

Our hiking adventure began along the Little Manitou Falls Trail.

Little Manitou Falls

We followed the trail alongside the Black River. The river was a bit low in places.

The fallen leaves looked like a golden blanket enveloping the forest floor.

Nature provided a beautiful view as the Black River joined Interfalls Lake.

We continued along the trail, passed the beach, and under the highway until we reached Big Manitou Falls.

Big Manitou Falls is the highest waterfall in Wisconsin.

The hike back to our starting point was filled with gorgeous fall colors. The sun shining through the trees highlighted the colorful leaves.

We stopped at Little Manitou Falls again, taking in the beautiful view.

Our hiking adventure was 4 miles.

Interstate State Park-St. Croix Falls-Wisconsin

Today’s hiking adventure was at Interstate State Park in Wisconsin.

Our adventure began at the Pothole Trail, which is part of the Ice Age Trail.

Raindrops were definitely falling on our heads today. We paid no mind to it though, since our eyes were too busy taking in all the fall colors. The St. Croix River offers spectacular views.

The Potholes

The short trail brought us back to our starting point.

We briefly hiked the road to get to the next set of trails. The views did not disappoint.

Summit Rock Trail

We continued hiking towards Echo Canyon Trail.

Lake O’ the Dalles began to appear. We followed the trail around the lake.

The sun kept trying to come out.

After we completed the loop around the lake, we hiked back towards the St. Croix River.

The giant rocks and boulders are so impressive to hike and climb on.

Today’s hiking adventure was 4.6 miles.
