Pattison State Park-Superior-Wisconsin

We hiked Pattison State Park on October 18th, 2024.

Our hiking adventure began along the Little Manitou Falls Trail.

Little Manitou Falls

We followed the trail alongside the Black River. The river was a bit low in places.

The fallen leaves looked like a golden blanket enveloping the forest floor.

Nature provided a beautiful view as the Black River joined Interfalls Lake.

We continued along the trail, passed the beach, and under the highway until we reached Big Manitou Falls.

Big Manitou Falls is the highest waterfall in Wisconsin.

The hike back to our starting point was filled with gorgeous fall colors. The sun shining through the trees highlighted the colorful leaves.

We stopped at Little Manitou Falls again, taking in the beautiful view.

Our hiking adventure was 4 miles.

Seven Mile Creek Park-St. Peter-Minnesota

Today’s hiking adventure was at Seven Mile Creek Park.

Our hike began on Trail 3 near the entrance of the park. Beautiful fall colors lay atop of the sandstone bluff. The maps posted at the park had seen better days.

The trail led us up and down the rolling hills, so many of the leaves had already fallen.

Fall is such a magical time of the year. The way the sun catches the colors of the leaves is breathtaking.

These were the only mushrooms we found at the park! Maybe the others were hiding under all the leaves.

We crossed over Seven Mile Creek and hiked Trail 8.

The following are some of my favorite photos from today.

The trail looped us back towards the beginning of the park. We hiked between Seven Mile Creek and the sandstone bluffs.

The sun felt wonderful as we hiked across the ball field.

We followed the trail under Highway 169.

The Minnesota River

We didn’t hike the trails on this side of the highway due to hearing a few gun shots. Most likely from duck hunters on their property which was nearby. We decided to head back to our starting point. I snapped a few photos of the colorful tree line before crossing back under the highway.

Today’s hiking adventure was 6 miles.

Salem Hills Park-Inver Grove Heights-Minnesota

Today’s hiking adventure began at Salem Hills Park.

The end of October is always bitter sweet. We are in the season of letting go. There are more leaves on the ground than on the trees. Fall colors are beginning to fade and the air is getting cold. Today though, may have been the perfect fall day. The sun was shining, the temperature was warm, and there was a cool breeze blowing.

The park is made up of unpaved shared hiking and biking trails.

Hiking through the birch tree groves was incredible. The changing colors of the leaves popped alongside the white bark.

The trail led us to a small pond.

Mushrooms were enjoying the weather too!

The trail looped around the park offering an amazing view of the spectacular fall colors.

Today’s hiking adventure was 5.3 miles.
